Cardinals move to 5-0 with convincing sweep of Frogs...

John Baum 30.04.2009
Chris Beyeler and his offense completely dismantled the Sissach Frogs in game 1 Sunday, 22-2. Chris took a no-hitter into the 6th inning, he lost the no hit bid, and the shutout, but keeps his record perfect at 3-0. Offensively the Cards sent 14 batters to the plate in the first inning, and from there, never looked back. In the inning they scored eight times, on five hits, with the help of five walks. Johnny Perigos hit his and his teams first homer of the year to stake the home team to an early lead. On the way to the six inning mercy rule, the Cardinals would score in all five innings they hit, and racked up 14 hits. Although they were helped by several walks, the team broke out of its' early season slump offensively. Offensive leaders: Vitus Huber: 2-2, 4 walks; Tobias Imboden: 2-3, 4 runs; Misael Guerrero: 2-3, 4 RBI.
Chris Beyeler: 3-0, 4 K's, 4 hits allowed. In game 2, Tobias Imboden took the hill for his first start of the season for the Cardinals. Imboden would leave the Frogs with no chance in securing the first shutout of his young pitching career, 7-0. Tobias struck out eight batters, while allowing only 5 hits in the complete game victory. The Cardinals found things a bit more difficult against Frogs starter Danny Traina, but still knocked out ten hits in the game. John Baum: 2-3, 2 2B, 2 RBI, 2 runs; and Johnny Perigos: 2-3, HR, 3 RBI led the charge. Klee: 2-3, was the only Frog with a multi hit game on the day. The Cardinals travel to Lausanne Sunday to take on the Indians in a rematch of last seasons final series. The Cards as always would like to thank the people who came out to the allmend.
